They say kids become more useful with errands as they get older. Here's my kid returning my library books this morning. If only he could talk them out of charging me those overdue fees too.🙂
Reading this gem for #internationalwomensday What are you reading and doing in honour of women today (and everyday )?
Not 100% sure, but I think a reader in Brazil appreciates my recommendation of Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. I read it three years ago and it makes me look at the world with wonder and gratitude to this day. It might scare readers off for being a little too relevant to our current situation with Covid-19, but then it's about how art and humanity survive after everything else has crumbled. In that way, it's the most hopeful novel I've ever read.
What if you're Ted Bundy though? #ssdgm
Throwback to 2016 when @harpercollinsuk and @williammorrowbooks bought #eroticstoriesforpunjabiwidows and a colleague created this fantastic cover in celebration. If you speak Australian, you'll understand all the reasons why the word "roots" is there 😉 #coverdesign #almostmadeit #globalenglish
On my way to a live interview with @channelnewsasia and boy am I eager to talk about writing after three days stuck indoors toilet training my son. I'll try not to mention poop, but no guarantees.
I've been off social media for a few weeks to recuperate from a very publicity-intense period but I couldn't resist coming back to tell you all to check out Masala Podcast, where South Asian women have bold, honest and insightful conversations about all those things we're not supposed to talk about. I'm incredibly honoured that Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows is the subject of their latest episode. One of the best things about being a writer is the opportunity to learn from your readers - this discussion was really enlightening.
This is what a morning walk to the supermarket looks like in Vancouver. How they get anything done around here is beyond me - I was so distracted by the view, I forgot to buy groceries.
Greetings from beautiful Vancouver, where I've been publicizing my book all day in print and TV interviews. Here I am after a good chat with Charlie Smith, chief editor of The Georgia Straight (that's a weekly entertainment magazine but I also think it would be a great band name ).
Guess I won't be going on that Sunday bike ride then.
I have a piece in @vogueindia about the future of sex (spoiler: robots might be involved ). Link in bio.

When you ask your husband and son to dismantle the patriarchy from the inside, and all they hear is "dismantle."
I'm just not sure if $188 is too much or too little to pay for an analysis of my life.
I registered my mom for a writing class in @theartshouse last month because I had a hunch that storytelling runs in our family. Here she is in the final showcase, recounting the time she hid in various department store aisles to dodge religious police in Saudi Arabia because she forgot to wear her head scarf.

I highly recommend the audiobook version if you’re able to get it. It’s on hoopla! 🦚 #theunlikelyadventuresoftheshergillsisters #ballikaurjaswal #harpercollins #audiobook #hoopladigital #bookstagram #booksetinindia #2019reads
This one surfaced in my Facebook memories from 4 years ago. I was in Kmart in Melbourne and went browsing for a memoir only to find ... cleaning supplies? Maybe the genre is expanding in ways I don't know.
I paused Gilmore Girls for a moment and inadvertently created a meme that sums up current events in multicultural Singapore...except maybe take out "borderline" because brownface in a national advertisement is just plain racist, and censoring the minorities who speak out against it is just another way of fucking it up.
