People look at beautiful landscape images and they instantly think that we’re so lucky because we get to see the most beautiful views. The reality is that, yes we see a lot of beautiful sights, however what most people don’t see is the amount of failures that we encounter. 90% of the time we fail. Sometimes, about 10% of the time, we get something worth keeping. Getting out of bed before sunrise in the freezing cold is tough, but thankfully it pays off if you go out and roll the dice 🎲. Sunrise at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley - this was my first shot of 2020. I celebrated New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day by going to sleep by 10pm shooting sunrise. I shot sunset and sunrise every single day that entire week. I didn’t feel like I missed out on any parties – just out there doing what I love watching the sunrise by myself. It was so liberating. Your past does not have to be bigger than your future.... ________________________________ A lot of times kids feel like they have to get 100% on something or they’re good enough. When the reality is that most successful people were “failures” before they became something. I used myself as an example and tell them that I didn’t even finish high school, and now I’m a teacher with a Master’s Degree. “Fail your way to success” is what I say. If you’re not failing, you’re not being challenged, if you’re not being challenged, you won’t achieve greatness. My TedTalk of the week 😂 ___________________________________ I finally got to editing some photos from beautiful @glaciernps that place is so amazing and I need to spend so much more time there!! ________________________________ Swipe 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼
Just because someone’s carries it well, does not mean that the weight isn’t heavy. ___________________________________ It’s easy to assume someone has it all together because they don’t let it show on the outside. When the truth is they could be going through something really tough - they just don’t show it. I try to keep this in mind specially when dealing with my students, I have no clue what some of them could be going though at home and they just don’t express it. Finally, have to remember to have this same patience with myself... it’s so incredibly easy to push things to the side and like everything is all good, when sometimes you’re (me ) just trying to hang on for dear life and not crack under all the pressure. So if someone pisses you off today, they could just be going through some real adversity in life and you’ll never know. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk 😄 ___________________________________ If you made it this far, I finally made it to the Death Valley cracks. Took me 5 times going there to try to find it, but I finally got a crack at it 😉😉 ____________________________________ Sony α7riii @mymikescamera 16-35 2.8 G-Master lens ____________________________________ Swipe for full size 👉🏼
I had the pleasure of witnessing the sunset through keyhole arch in Big a Sur. Mother Nature sure is creative. I just can’t help but to think how that hole/box was created, but it came out perfect. I got set up at noon, 5 hours before sunset, swipe to see how many people ended up there 😳. _____________________________________ ISO100 16mm f/14 1/40sec Sony α7riii @mymikescamera

Not much makes me realize time passing, like observing the seasons. Less than 12 hours after this shot was taken, this place was completely covered in snow and looked so different. Fall will definitely be missed, but it’s to get ready for winter and a new year 🙌🏼 Leave a ❄️ If you’re excited for winter!
