Everything might be a bit, well...shit, at the moment, but I’m still devoting some energy to Adenomyosis Awareness Month! I’m not allowed to wear my own scrub caps anymore, but after collecting my training supplies from the cupboard I discovered that we have these fab purple disposable scrub caps! So I’m proudly wearing purple and raising awareness of adenomyosis through some of the fab work done by @qendoau ! The blog is a great resource for adeno info from specialists in the field, as well as relatable stories from people who have been through the journey to diagnosis. Just because there’s a pandemic going on, doesn’t mean your chronic illness decides to social distance. Work is stressful and unpredictable at the moment which plays havoc with my adeno symptoms, and I’ve found myself having significant flare ups over the last few weeks. Your caregivers can still be dealing with their own illnesses. Your work colleagues might be putting on a brave face. Remember to be kind to one another - don’t stop trying to find humanity amidst the chaos #adenomyosis #adenomyosisawareness #adenomyosisawarenessmonth #adenosister #endometriosis #endosister #POTS #nurse #nurselife #nursesofinstagram #theatrenurse #recoverynurse

Cross contamination when wearing gloves can be difficult to manage. For your next trip to the supermarket consider the following: . . 🧤take only one credit card with you- no paper money or coins. . 🧤don’t take a bag or wallet, only what you absolutely need . . 🧤hand sanitiser / shredded soap ( see prev IGTV ). . 🧤write a paper list and be prepared to not answer calls or touch your phone until you’ve cleaned your hands thoroughly. . 🧤be mindful to not touch your face at all. . 🧤handwash as soon as possible and decontaminate keys and phone. . #healthpromotion #nurse #nursesofinstagram #crosscontamination #gloves #ppe #infectioncontrol #covid19 #healthadvice #howto

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀… Being a virtual health and fitness coach is a passion of mine. I get to help people virtually and also take care of myself at the same time. These women are true friends and coaching has allowed me to have all of this. If you are needing something like this right now… I’m going to invite you to reach out to me. I keep showing up for the women who are struggling right now, not knowing how they’ll pay their bills or get out of bed tomorrow. This community and these women are what keeps me going. Going to work tomorrow as an RN will be challenging and yes I love what I do… but having this community and coaching in addition has me feeling all kinds of happy during the unhappiest of times! “𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.”
Once again the nation will come together again at 8pm as part of the Clap For Our Carers campaign, recognising the efforts of the NHS workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic every day. I will be there at my doorstep but at the same time I am also trying to raise funds for much needed equipment. These earring cards are a nice gift and card to send to someone who deserves a special thank you. I will donate £2 towards the nhs for equipment from every pair of rainbow earrings sold and I will also offer free delivery and wrapping of the earrings to any nurses being gifted a pair. #earringcards #earring #thanks #nhs #nhsheroes #coronavirus #supportournhs #supportournhsworkers #stayathome #stayhome #keesafe #keepyourdistance #dontgoout #washyourhands #fundraising #gift #giftforsomeonespecial #thankyougift #thankyou #giftshop #card #cards #giftshop #bedford Bedfordshire #smallbusiness #crumbleandcore #nursing #nurses #nursesofinstagram #nursing #rainbows #rainbow

Thank you! To all of the #frontlineheroes for doing what you do, to keep us ALL safe! .
This week has, without doubt, been the toughest and most mentally and physically draining of my whole career. Our feet haven’t touched the ground, and we have no time to question whether our decisions are the right ones or not. There have been tears, there has been anger. But the kindness and compassion shown has far outweighed the negatives. Any job in caring is not an easy job right now. We spend our time trying to protect our patients, whilst trying to keep ourselves safe and in turn trying not to put our families at risk. It is not an easy balancing act. But, you know what? I’m still going. I’m still smiling. That’s because I have the best support around me. My husband has been so understanding and it also helps to have the best work colleagues. Two years ago my team won ‘AWP Team of the Year’ and this week they have proven time and time again why they got that accolade. Big love and thanks to those that are supporting us thro this ❤️ #nhs #rmn #mentalhealthnurse #forensicmentalhealth #supportyournhs #covidtimes #nursesofinstagram #tired #nurse
.... another one Coronavirus is real, and what’s even more real are the many different essential workers out there putting in their hours to help with this pandemic. We got to remember that it’s not only doctors and nurses that are out there; we have medical secretaries, environmental services, pharmacists ... the list goes on! The healthcare system could never function without the various roles and I’m so happy to work with these amazing women💜. When you see us out there, remember we all have lives outside the hospital and trust, we want our lives to return to normal. But for now, help us by staying home. Stay safe😘 I promise no ppe was wasted in the making of this video! #dontrushchallenge 🇬🇭 #stayhome #washyourhands #getmeppe #nursesofinstagram #coronavid19 @thepeckishpalate @thisisvhee @idamaisie

In the midst of chaos... there is LIGHT. In the midst of chaos...we learn to APPRECIATE the smallest things in life. In the midst of chaos... “some of us” SEE things more clearly. Husband and wife ❤ Both Nurse Anesthetists "CRNA's" on the COVID-19 Airway team. These CRNA's are taking care of the most critical patients in the world at this moment. This is the closest they can come to each other prior to starting the shift, and after that, no contact. Many healthcare providers are sleeping in garages, cars, and have sent their family to their in-laws so they won't infect them. Many have chosen the route of keeping their significant others away for now, as I have. We give so much for your safety, so please, stay home. We will get through this, but we need people to take this very seriously. The only way to make this curve flat is by continuing to social distance. Be safe. ❤️ We shared this from @jd .moha
The marks on my face say it all. Started our shift with an intubation & ended the same way. I just finished a 5 day stretch & even though our volume is down thanks to the shelter in place the patients we are seeing are majority are covid like complaints. This stretch I've seen seemingly stable patients crash in a matter of an hour, more white out x-rays than I can count, patients with oxygen saturations of 85% leaving against medical advice to go back out into the community. It's real, it's happening, each day I feel like the number of patients, how sick they are, the preservation of PPE is getting getting cranked up a notch. Each day a little worse. I’m thankful for 7 days off coming up but acutely aware that seven days in the time of covid is basically a lifetime. . . . . . #ernurse #covid2020 #covidnurse #errn #rnlife #pandemiclife #ednurse #emergencymedicine #frontlines #shelterinplace #nursesofinstagram #ernurses
This beautiful past bride of mine is an internal medicine doctor serving with everyone on the front lines of COVID19 right now. Maddie, you are amazing. I know every single patient you treat is being cared for in such a special way. THANK YOU for what you are doing. We all know you and your community didn’t sign up for THIS, and yet you’ve risen to meet it. . Can we all give Maddie a little love today?! She’s not on insta but I’d love to text her some screenshots of encouragement to end her day today. ♥️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m really proud to be a nurse during this season. This was clearly taken at the beginning of my shift, but the feelings are the same. I had a friend the other day tell me she was thankful I wasn’t on the “front line” of this disease, and I couldn’t agree more—I look up to the ER nurses + ICU nurses so much. I am so thankful my job still has joy + the blessing of new life, because at a time when the hospital feels ominous and scary, hearing the cry of a new baby changes everything. We’re not on the front line of sickness necessarily, but we are the nurses still stepping up and taking care of people on their biggest day, one of the most important days of their lives. Can you imagine what it feels like to bring a baby into this world right now? They can’t have family there—one support person, if they’re lucky. No big brothers or sisters, no moms, no sisters, no best friends. It hurts my heart for them. I work with the best crew who are constantly stepping up to fill in the gap as much as we can. We’re their nurse, their caretaker, their advocate, their hand-holder, their sweat-wiper, their labor coach, and their cheerleader too. We step in and act as photographer to capture the first few moments of that baby’s life, we hold Mama’s hand and remind her she can do it when she doesn’t think she can, we give dad a reassuring smile and help them swaddle the baby tighter. Being a nurse in this season is hard and weird and feels unknown for so many of us, but I’m grateful for the tiny chance I have to stand in the gap and be there for my patients. It is the greatest privilege. ❤️👶🏼 . . . #laboranddelivery #labornurse #beingoxford #standinthegap #registerednurse #babiesofinstagram #seekingjoy #nursesofinstagram #nurselife
I've been seeing a lot of posts from people who are complaining that the shut down is not the answer. Most of these are from people who have no expertise in epidemiology or general pathology. I can safely assume that they have no direct dealings with the COVID19 pandemic aside from their inconvenience. Perhaps they haven't had to deal with family members, friends or really anyone else in their lives who have been impacted. But imagine this, you're a teenager, your father has died from COVID pneumonia. The hospital isn't allowing anyone but workers in, especially in the ICU. So you are Facetimed your dead father to say goodbye. Imagine finding out after processing your father being severely ill for weeks that now your mother is sick and both are on life support in the same room and you are thousands of miles away isolated yourself. Imagine a patient telling you the night before, "ok i'll agree to intubation if that will save me, please take care of me" and he never wakes up the next day. Now stop imagining. That was just today. Please take this seriously people, there might be a great number of people who have recovered but this virus has no distinguished target (it could be you ). Don't gamble on this one.
