oнana мeanѕ ғaмιly There are many types of family. There's the one you're born into...maybe it's harmonious or maybe it's discordant. There's the group of friends you have when you're little. Usually based off of proximity or familial connections. There's the family you hang out with in high school and college based off of similarities (your sports team, your clubs, your work peeps, your study buddies ). At some point many pick one human to start their own new family with... Sometimes fur babies, sometimes a brand new human they have to not screw up. As we grow and change we need different things from different people. In my postpartum, working mom, new homeowner stage of life I need lots of support. I need some cheerleaders for my wins and those who will encourage me when I'm feeling or acting self destructive (binge eating ). I have friend who I know I could talk to, but now I have an amazing community of women who are all connected and striving to be the best version of themselves.
I could use some positive thoughts/prayers/energy... Last week I spent three days admitted in the ER/hospital with a severe mast cell activation (similar to a severe anaphylaxic reaction ) to the biological treatment I was put on for my IBD flare. I’ve been in this flare for five months now and it looks like surgical intervention is my next step. I’ve talked to people that have gone through the surgery and although it’s a scary process, everyone I spoke to said it changed their lives for the positive. I’m at peace with needing this surgery, the part I am having trouble wrapping my head around is speaking to my GI today - because of Covid I might have to wait up until a year to actually get the surgery. The last five months in this flare have taken a toll on me physically and I could really use a boost to help get me through this next stretch. I have faced so much uncertainty in the last six years dealing with health challenges. In the past I tried to push down any emotions that I thought were “negative”, in order to be “positive”. The thing with that is those negative or lower vibe emotions need to be released at some point. I’ve learned that it is much healthier to feel all the emotions, and then let it go. I’m trying to surrender to this process and learn whatever I am meant to through it but I could use some extra love right now. #crohnsandcolitis #ibdawareness #spoonielife I am hopeful that I can speak to the surgeon within the next few weeks and ideally get the surgery sooner rather than later. Your thoughts and prayers are so appreciated and mean the world to me. #ibdawareness #chronicillnesswarriors #fighter #warrior #keepmovingforward #healingjourney #feelingeverymoment #positiveenergy #zebrastrong #eds #heds #IBD #autoimmunedisease #autoimmunepancreatitis #hashimotosdisease #pots #mcas #complexhealth #onedayatatime

Sometimes it’s really hard not to go straight for the painkillers, but more times than not it can do more damage than good in the long run. That’s not to say you should never take them (trust me, I’ve had my fair share of NSAIDs ), but rather try some of these more natural options first😊. #hashimotosdisease #hashimotosdiet #hashimotoshealing #hashimotosweightloss #hashimotos #autoimmunedisease #autoimmunestrong #healthyliving #medicalmedium

I’m a creature of habit! Some ladies regularly mix their superfood shake with different ingredients. Not me! I’ve mixed mine the same way from day one... One scoop of of the best superfood vegan (pea protein... NO soy ) chocolate powder on the market, 1/2 of a frozen banana, 2T of PB2, 8oz of almond/coconut milk, and 4 old school ice cubes (since our ice maker doesn’t work )! 😂 Whether I enjoy it as a quick breakfast on a busy morning or an afternoon sweet treat, I’m always sad once it’s gone! If you’ve ever considered trying this amazing shake, August is the month to do so because I have FIVE $20 off promo codes left to giveaway when it’s bundled together. Drop a 😋 in the comment or shoot me a message, so you can grab a promo code before they disappear😉!

⬅️today vs. TWO YEARS AGO➡️ swipe for a pretty clean 205 and an ugly 215. I saw a woman at the gym tonight who was working out with a personal trainer. She was overweight, looked uncomfortable, and frankly terrified. I wanted to tell her, we have ALL been there. We have all felt out of place and self conscious. Keep going. It won't happen overnight, it won't even necessarily happen in a year. This is a lifelong lifestyle commitment not a fad diet. The beauty of health is even though a picture's worth a thousand words, it can't come close to describing the anguish, pride, wins, failures....every time you fall off and get back in the grind. Just.keep.going. #takethepictures #progresspic #growth #gains #womenwholift #momswhopumpiron #momswholift #grindugly #getafterit #sobermama #reactivehypoglycemia #hashimotosdisease #sober #legday #quadgains #lifestyle #lifechanger #liftingheavy
When I found out in June that my Hashimotos numbers had skyrocketed and my TSH test came back at over 24, I was devastated. Although I generally felt fine, I had to pull the plug on the surrogacy journey. I may or may not have cried for about a week straight. Then I picked myself back up and decided it was time to start healing - my way! These last 6 weeks of focusing on healing (both inside my body AND my emotions that may be stuck and contributing to my autoimmune ) have felt soooooo good! I’m sleeping like a rock allllll through the night 😴, which is HUGE for me! My mindset is SO positive, my energy is significantly up, and I’m even trimming inches off my muffin top!! 🥳 So just incase you didn’t think the juicing and meditation and oils and prayers were hippy-dippy enough, I decided to add in some castor oil packs and a parasite 🦠 zapper 😆! But seriously, I’m thinking the odds of me getting back to BETTER than 100% are pretty high ... I’d put money 💰 on it🙌🏻
I would be lying if I said I have been able to 100% completely release caring what others think about me. After all, I AM human. But what I am getting better at is hearing the voices of those that matter and have earned the right to have a voice in my life. I don’t NEED, external validation...but let’s be real...it feels good to hear what you’re passionate about and working hard on has impacted someone. I’ve been praying A LOT about where I’m at and where God wants me to go. Praying with open hands and open heart to the opportunities He has for me. I’ve answered even when it was with a shakiness in my voice. I once thought my voice didn’t matter. I once thought I had nothing of value to offer the world and over the last few weeks, I have been mind blown by some of the messages I have received. The words in these messages are actual prayers I’ve prayed. Self limiting beliefs I once held so deeply, debunked in these words. Messages telling me to keep using my voice. The voice I once regarded as useless and powerless. If you have ever felt this way or feel this way now, I want you to know YOU matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters. What you’re going through matters. The world needs what only you can offer. (And @andythenewgirl thank you so much for this amazing shirt! Forever blessed and appreciative of what you bring to this world and what you have brought to my life. Thank you for allowing me to use my shaky voice to tell my beautiful mess of a story. )
Our mind can shift things that happen in our body and our body can impact how we experience things in the mind. Quite amazing isn’t it? The chemistry in our body is different when we are experiencing joy, peace, happiness vs when we are stressed, upset, or fearful. The beauty is we get to pick. Create more ease in the body which creates more ease in the mind OR we can create more ease in our mental state and the body follows suit! We can actually reduce and eliminate disease in the body this way! We can eliminate anxiety and depression. We can have more energy and life to do the things we enjoy! This is my passion, this is what I teach, and this is what I live EVERY SINGLE day. And you can too. Stress, disease, and suffering come from not experiencing the true nature of life. We are not meant to suffer. We are to do everything we know to relieve suffering and bring harmony to our lives. Body, mind, and spirit. It is actually how I overcame autoimmune and chronic conditions in my own mind and body. We all have a blueprint within us of perfect health. It’s time to tap into that intelligence. Yes today we are going to be discussing poop also known as the #2 . This is a very important conversion I have between me and my client. Poop is an indicator to overall health. So, let’s talk poo, shall we? Do you know what regular means when it comes to the #2 ? Ideally 1-3 times a day and it should be well formed, sausage like and smooth. Not mushy, loose, pebble like or lumpy. Healthy BM’s should be light brown in color. Not black or tarry as that indicates blood in the stool. Plus, you don’t want to be seeing any food in your stool. If you are noticing undigested food then this is a sign that you are not breaking down properly due to low digestive enzymes or even poor eating hygiene. Yes, there is a protocol called eating hygiene. Actually, that is one of the very first topics that I cover with my clients. Here are some good questions to ask yourself…. Are you chewing thoroughly that your food becomes a slurry? Are you eating in a non-stressful state? Consuming too much liquid? Drinking too much water during your meal will lower your stomach acid. Floaty and greasy? That’s a sign that you’re not breaking down fat properly or you could even be eating way more than your body can handle. You might need some gallbladder support. Loose and watery is a sign of gut issues such as food sensitives or maybe bacteria imbalances. I will also refer back to eating hygiene and eating in a relaxed state. How about pebble like and hard to pass? Then you are constipated. Did you know the average American is chronically constipated? Yes unfortunately true. When we are not going 1-3 times a day, we are holding in toxins such as pesticides, drugs, chemicals, heavy metals, and excess estrogen. Not eliminating the waste right away will lead us to reabsorbing the toxins. Suggestions I make are eat whole foods, healthy fats, drink plenty of water, soluble fiber, and take magnesium glycinate or citrate. You can see how paying attention to your poo matters to your health. I tell my clients that they need to look in the bowl and yes, I know it’s kinda gross but it’s important. If you have noticed issues with your poo and want to optimize your health, send me a DM!

Today I want to celebrate a win. What a rarity in 2020 am I right? So here's what happened. My naturopath and I seemed to be stuck in how to treat my always low energy levels. A few months ago she finally had me get tested for EBV (Epstein Barr ) and CMV (Cytomegalovirus ). Both of these are viruses that can trigger thryoid issues. And my numbers were off the chart. So she put me on some heavy duty supplements to help with that. A huge dose taking 3 pills 3x/day for a couple months. (Glad I could be at home and didn't need to trek little pillboxes with me to work every day 😂 ) Let me tell you, after the first week, I was a new person. Or rather back to my old person. I thought I was imagining things, that it was a placebo effect, that it was just in my head. I'd felt good before but it was always temporary. It never lasted. So I didn't tell anyone. Because I didn't want to ruin it. 🙄 In my mind, talking about it before I proved it out would set me up for failure. And I did not want this to fail. But it is fucking real and I'm so happy about it. Energy has always been something that I can never seem to consistently obtain, despite all the other work I'd put it. And it's the thing I crave the most since I need to Do. All. The. Things. Moral of the story: Never give up. Find people who are in your corner. You don't need to do it alone. Keep sharing your wins. 🍻 #hashimotos #hashimotoswarrior #hashimotosdisease #pcos #pcoswarrior #autoimmunedisease #paleo #aip #ebv #epsteinbarr #cmv #winning #naturopathy #naturopathicmedicine #integrativehealth #naturalhealth #holistichealth #healthyliving #naturalmedicine #herbalmedicine #herbalremedies #naturalremedies #hormonehealth #womenwellness #positiveenergy #positivelife #positiveliving #positivemood #loveyourself #wellnessjourney via @preview .app
My journey: About 8 months ago, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease. Though I would say this came after everything I was put through. Around 4 years prior to this, I was living in Hawaii. All was going well until one day I got sick...and I mean really sick. I stopped eating completely because even drinking water made it feel like knives going down my throat. After two weeks with no relief in symptoms, my mom finally took me in. Immediately the doctors were concerned since my airway was nearly closed shut. After running some test (including an MRI for thyroid cancer ), they still had no answers. About a week after this, I woke one morning with no symptoms at all. Nada and they never reoccured again. Fast forward a few years. All was good in terms of my health, until one day I got a stomach ache. Nothing out of the ordinary, I just assumed I ate something bad. This quickly turned into anxiety, headaches, backaches, insomnia, ears ringing, constant fatigue and acid reflux all the way up to my eye balls 🙄. I saw more doctors than I could count trying to find any sort of relief from my symptoms. CT scans, blood draws (A LOT of blood drawings ), endoscopies, ultra sounds. I felt so defeated because with every test coming back normal, I felt more and more despaired. Doctors did the best they could at guess and doing what they do best...prescribing medication. I had countless allergic reactions to the medication I was being given, but never any relief of symptoms. They guess it could be kidney stones, appendicitis, stomach ulcers, ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy, celiacs disease, mono virus, meningitis. Nope. Didn’t have a single one. It was a hard time for me because going to the doctors and having all these tests run began to get me excited. I was hopeful that one of my appointments they would finally have an answer for me. I look back now and realize how hard it must have been for the doctors to have a young, 22 year old healthy girl come in with a handful of unrelated symptoms. (Pt 1/2 )
#throwbackthursday This spikey haired young lad is me circa 1989. Looking at my old school pictures is always an interesting experience. For a long time, I didn't like looking back at these times in my life. Partly because I didn't feel like that person anymore, but a lot of it was to avoid feeling the pain of some pretty traumatic memories. The one thing that I always notice in old photos is my smile. I rarely smiled my "real" smile. It's usually some version of this tight lipped smile. My real smile is crooked, and I hated it for the longest time. I felt it made me look different and as a child all I really wanted was to fit in. It's been a long journey towards self acceptance and love. But, I finally have reached a point in my life where I am comfortable with my flaws and imperfections. I see them as part of my story, my journey towards becoming an authentic and whole person. All the best. Life is absurd. Sending you support if you feel like you've tried everything for your constipation 💜 A lot of my clients come to my program having "tried everything" and feel like they are never going to find relief. And trust me, I've been there too I struggled with my own gut issues for over a decade with no relief and I know how frustrating it can be to not understand why you are bloated and constipated and just want to feel better 😔I remember bouncing from doctor to doctor to try to find relief. From elimination diet to elimination diet and nothing was working. It was so frustrating. Then, it all clicked when I started to understand how the body all worked together. I was never going to feel better by over focusing on food and not addressing the other contributing factors in my life: my stress, my low thyroid, my low vitamin D, my slow motility and bacterial overgrowth Why had no one ever talked to me about this?! I was so frustrated and confused... ⭐But I found a new practitioner who was able to help me put the pieces together to understand all of the contributing factors to my bloat and constipation. And slowly over time I started to heal. I found joy in eating out again, I was more present in relationships and I wasn't constantly paranoid about food You can do this too! 👏 In my group coaching program I help you understand the underlying issues that are contributing to your bloat and constipation so that you can find relief and live your life again! ⭐Apply for a limited spot using the link in my bio 🤩

Nothing quite as scary😱 and exciting 😃as starting over, in business or in life in general. Last night I started a free platform I think you all will love. The thyroid healing circle is somewhere for the public and those that are in the thyroid healing community membership to connect. You can ask questions, post your thoughts, follow specific topic, and more. When you join you can add your location to find people near you. You can also add your diagnosis to connect with those that suffer with the same struggles ( I love that ). This will also allow me to go much deeper about my post. Sometimes the limit of word count on here doesn’t allow me to cover what I want to say in my post. You can access the circle on the computer or through the mobile app. Click the link in the bio to join! Comment yes if you like this idea! Share and like so we can reach as many thyroid warriors as we can. : )
AUTOIMMUNE SISTER STORY // Brianna is an incredible young woman that chose to use her struggle to help others. Here is her story. MEET BRIANNA ♥️ I am 23 years old and I was born and raised in Long Island, NY. I am the youngest of 4 and have 3 older brothers. The youngest of the 3 passed away when I was 10 (and he was 16 ) in a tragic accident. I was a union construction worker for a year before I got really sick and had to take a medical leave of absence. During my medical leave, I realized I wanted to help people like myself who are struggling to find better days. I took a coaching course and I am now the founder of Coaching by Brie where I help people recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, enjoy life and learn to embrace the gluten-free lifestyle. DIAGNOSIS 🌡 I was experiencing extreme fatigue and digestive issues in 2019 so I reached out to my doctor to see what was going on. That is when I was diagnosed with Celiac Diseaseand Hashimoto’s Disease (this was in July ). I made the necessary changes to cut out gluten, but after a few months I still wasn’t feeling better, in fact I was feeling worse. I remember this day very well. It wasn’t my best day. I was tired and didn’t want to socialize at all and I wanted to capture that feeling. Yesterday and the day before I had two days like this. I’ve been super tired with no energy what so ever. I think it has to do with the race and also cause of my Hashimotos disease. Luckily I’ve had a new family member to cuddle with. Also we met up with some friends today and I really felt how the energy came back a bit. Just wanted to share a bit of my life that aren’t about happy smiles, running and high energy levels. #hashimotosdisease #life #runner
When most people think about chronic pain they only consider the physical toll it can have on one’s body, but the emotional and mental health effects are just as debilitating. Long term pain, with limited relief, changes a person and takes control of all aspects of their life. It makes you feel frustrated, sad, depressed, hopeless and lonely. You feel less superior than others. You are so isolated you almost feel like an alien in this world. The worst part is these emotions can make our physical pain worse and thus the pain cycle never stops. It’s important to continue to talk about these issues. We all need to support one another through the dark days. Sending love to everyone today. Follow us @how .u.feeling for more post about living with a chronic or mental illness. biopsy is complete. a really uncomfortable, not painless procedure. a decent amount of samples taken with an anticipation of a couple weeks for results (ew ). i have to be honest. everything i have gone through medically these past almost 7 years, this, this right here makes me terrified of leaving these kids without a mom. i have lived that life. a life without a mom. without an adoptive mom; without a birth mom. i cannot leave them with that endless, lifelong grief and pain. dramatic? no. not at all. not after all i have been through these past 7 years of disease and 20 years with traumatic maternal loss. here we go, babes. mama isn’t going anywhere.
