Giving up on my Fitness Journey Seemed To Happen When... 🛑 I wouldn't workout for a week or 2 (*and then somehow 6 months would slip by ). 🛑 I would get off track for a few days while on vacation (Dr.Pepper EVRRRY DAY ) and I would return home but my nutrition plan was left somewhere in lala land 🛑 The accumulation of all my goals going out the window had me buying more "sweatpants" because nothing fit (*Y'all know I wasn't sweating in those ). And the next thing I knew I was eating Panda Express and Cane's Chicken for dinner, hitting the Del Taco drive through 2-3 times a week and yoga pants were for marathons of Netflix 🍟🍔🍕🍩 **HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN???? Easily. It's easy to fall off track. Especially when you don't have a personal nutritionist in your kitchen telling you what to eat, lift and think.😜😜😜😜😜 So I can't tell you I've found a magical pill to make all of this go away BUT... I can tell you I've found tools that ACTUALLY get me on track faster... That make it easier to stay on track when on vacation, to get workouts in from WHEREVER you happen to be and keep you accountable without the expensive price tag of a personal trainer💲💲💲 It's not as sexy as a "take this pill and fat be gone" situation but it's real, it works and these results last. when transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle, I had a list of foods I absolutely would not eat [tofu being at the top of that list] slowly but surely, I started crossing foods of my list & expanding my options for what I would eat. Been recently listening to some behavior change science and research out there. It clearly shows that more we try to change at once the more likely we are to be unsuccessful at changing those behaviors. It is recommended to legit just start with 1 behavior change and slowly ad other changes. It logically makes sense right, like how many times have we succeeded at just going cold turkey cutting out all the “bad” foods and working out everyday etc. Not too many. Then we usually blame ourselves thinking we are not mentally strong enough or don’t have the will or discipline etc. But once we understand that our minds and biology have a legit process of how it works its more empowering since we know we will eventually succeed as long as we take small steps over a long period of time. . As a example, next time trying to get back into a workout routine, start with just 1 day of 15-30 mins that’s it. If that’s too easy for 2 weeks good then add another day. We’ve gotta stop thinking about it only in terms of weight and what we “have to do” in order to lose it. It’s about SO much more than that. Consider this: Exercise isn’t punishment for what you ate. It’s an act that benefits your brain, heart, muscles, mood...exercise can literally help slow down aging! Moving your body isn’t something you hAvE to do to burn calories, it’s something we were DESIGNED to do in order to feel good. Every time you eat healthy food, it’s benefitting you down to the *cellular* level. Each different color you eat can benefit a different system in your body. With each bite you’re boosting your immune system, improving gut health, helping balance hormones & better deal with stress, etc. It’s a privilege to eat healthy food- not punishment because you don’t like the way your body looks. With every sip of water, you’re helping EVERY ORGAN OF YOUR BODY perform optimally. You’re boosting digestion, detoxification, energy levels, satiety, brain health, skin health, etc. It’s not just a way to eAt LeSs At MeALtiMe. Not eating before bed isn’t just so you don’t eat as many calories & lose weight. It’s giving your body the time it needs to detox/repair during the night, rather than simply working to digest your food. Ya heard? It’s so much more empowering to think about how healthy choices work FOR you, rather than fighting and forcing and manipulating your body. Next time it feels hard, think about what you can do FOR YOU. 😊

It was hard to grasp and even implement. You with me? Awesome. Let’s explore then. ❌First you can’t self love your way to body if you keep lying to yourself. ❌You can’t keep pretending you are in love with your body. ❌You can’t keep waiting for the external to change then you’ll start loving and respecting your body. ❌You can’t expect self love to happen if you don’t own how you really feel FIRST & DECIDE TO FEEL DIFFERENT from that state. ➡️It’s about working towards a place of respect for your body & meeting where you are at with it NOW. ➡️It’s about getting out of the self hate bubble without the pressure to “love your body! I wanted to order out. Woke up to a tropical storm, way too many indoor messes from trying to occupy the kids, energetic puppy who couldn’t run outside, trying to make sure our plants didn’t blow away, leaks, chores, etc. Last thought I had was to prepare something for dinner. I even brought a menu out to order and stared blindly at the options - fried everything, carbs, grease, cheese. Ugh. But, no energy. Norm asked Saige what she wanted for dinner without meat and she said “Noodles and broccoli and carrots!” So, I cooked. It was hot, it was chaotic, but I did it. Beyond happy that I did. I don't know how many times I say something along the lines of, "it's about small changes at a time". So here's another one... Today's nutrition tip is to try baking with sourdough. Oh my gosh is it ever delicious! So why do it? Because fermented foods are easier on your gut and even gluten sensitive people have been known to feel fine eating sourdough over regular flour.
Sometimes it's good to look back - to see how far you've come. The photos tell one story - yep I lost some weight...a bonus to me being healthier & fitter than I've been in years. What you don't see is me struggling to get in & out of the car, barely able to walk down stairs after work, skin peeling & cracking, numerous visits to MIU for emergency antibiotics. You don't see me wearing special 'skin' to protect my hands & feet from the outside world & a pile of meds I used to take. NAPPY DEN AMBASSADOR INTRO 🌍 My name is Stella. I’m a second time mummy to Hallie, who is my lockdown baby (literally watched borris Johnson’s announcement and popped out a baby 😬 ). I have Harper who is 3 and and also a step daughter called Maizy, who is 10. 🌳 I wanted to use cloth with Harper, and we bought a few nappies, from Aldi. Harper was a tiny baby we couldn’t make them work. We had lots of leakages as I didn’t know about boosting. Further I didn’t know where to turn for advice, so eventually just gave up. I really regret this one 😭 🌵 I applied to be an ambassador to help others who want to make cloth work but don’t know why it isn’t working. ♻️ For a few years we have been trying to reduce our waste, reduce the use of single use items and make more environmentally friendly choices so using cloth makes sense. My mum used Terry Nappies for me and my brother in the 80s and I love that she is supportive of the choice to cloth. 🌾 Hallie has lots of allergies and very sensitive skin. I feel by using cloth I am limiting her exposure of unnecessary chemicals and plastic 🌼 We started cloth when Hallie was 10 weeks old. This was once she has reached birth to potty weight and we had gotten over that “we are responsible for another person” feeling 😬 🏞 This time I was determined not to fail. I had the support of a good friend, who used cloth with her first. I found a great book to read and joined lots of groups on social media (I 💕 the cloth community ). The nerves I had disappeared and I began to enjoy it. My favourite part is my wash routine (I even weigh out my powder ). 🌴 We now use cloth in the day and a single disposable at night. I’m working towards using cloth a night. This is a mental issue for me to overcome as Harper didn’t sleep through the night until she was nearly 3. When you’re a little *stuck* 😬 At the beginning of July, I realized my general sense of overwhelm, frustration, and malaise stemmed from feeling stuck. Who else can relate? 🙋♀️ Most of us are physically “stuck” at home (even more so than usual, if you’re chronically ill ) due to the pandemic. We are also facing frightening massive uncertainty and challenges of profound impact on humanity — from health to social justice. It’s natural to ask, Will anything we do even matter? 🤔😫🥺 When I begin to feel like just one tiny grain of sand on an endless beach, it’s time to give myself more grace for where I’m at AND focus on doable daily commitments — finding ways to show up for myself and a larger purpose 🌄 We don’t have to move mountains to make intentional shifts in how we feel about ourselves and our situation 🏔 Small, daily habits can build self-confidence and forward momentum, carrying you forward no matter the scale of the challenges at hand or the swirling uncertainty you face 👣 For the last few weeks I’ve doubled down on morning meditations, compassionate journaling, and future self visualizations. I have intentionally leaned into moments of joy, helping retrain my body and mind to feel safe and happy — even with a looming sense of heightened danger trying to trick my nervous system into constant fight or flight. And I’ve been reaching out to more friends with a quick thought or check in, and actively learning more about how to be better ally. Remember: start where you are. Use what you have. ❤️ GRATEFUL ❤️ ⠀ Happy Friday! Today is a photo I’m sharing just because. Most mornings when I have to write down in my gratitude journal what I’m grateful for, I always write “my boo”. He is my person, best friend + partner and I’m so grateful I get to spend the rest of my life with him wherever it takes us. To be completely honest though, I’ve been struggling with a lot of negative self talk lately and @dubssmith has been there to help me through it every step of the way. I’ve learned that even though we are on this crazy, amazing adventure and away from NYC - you can’t run from your inner demons. This week I’m making a huge effort to stop the negative self talk, tell myself everyday that “I love Jax”, and do the things that light me up. As a result, I finally feel like “me” again. As more and more businesses shift to online sales and use Instagram as an advertising tool, the more I see ads that ask you to DM or contact them for a price. I follow a few antique shops on Instagram and aside from wanting all the bloody stuff, I also want to see a price or a link to a website that has a price for the item I want. No price? No sale. I’m not going to inquire about the price. I’m not going to DM them. No matter how much I may like something, I’m not going to put myself in a position where you tell me the price and I think it’s over the top and then have to awkwardly say no thank you. Or I’ll see something and think, I really like that, I’ll have a look at their profile and check for a website in a minute. Many times, if I don’t do it immediately, I forget all about it. The window of opportunity to make a sale is shut. Why? Because I, like many other people, am often an impulse buyer. If I see something I like and I think it’s a good price I’ll clickety click click and BOOM, sale made. If I have to put in work to find a price or contact someone to find out a price, I’ll probably just leave it. The argument that sometimes with vintage items there can be some movement on price and that’s why they don’t display it, doesn’t fly with me either. Most people assume there can be movement on price when it comes to used vintage items. Or you can say offers in the region of... I’m not the only person that feels this way either because I’ve had friends moan about exactly the same thing. So am I just a lazy, cranky cow with equally grumpy friends or is anyone else in agreement....?

PB Fact # 1: 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻. For a serving of 2 Tbsp of peanut butter, you get 6g of protein, and 190 kCal. For those same calories, you're much better off with plain Greek yogurt (20g Protein ), cottage cheese (13g ), 2 eggs (12g ), or Grilled Chicken (21g Protein ). . PB Fact # 2: 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗴𝗲. They're loaded with added sugar and highly toxic oils. If you're gonna enjoy PB, spend a few extra dollars and get one that is good quality w/o added sugars or oils. Better yet, grind your own. . PB Fact # 3: 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞. A quick scan of the label on the PB jar will tell us everything we need to know. There are very few, if any vitamins and minerals present in PB. . Do I still eat peanut butter? 🙋 Oh, HELL YES!!!
