There is irony, coincidence, all of that, and then sometimes, there's just *a sign*. Michael and I decided that we're going to sign up for a half-marathon trail run in December. It's 75 days away. How do I know that? Because I also started (albeit, kinda half-heartedly at first ) the #75hard challenge today... and had no idea until this evening that the challenge ends on the day of the race. And i had 2 thoughts. 1: dangit! Now I really have to stick to it! And 2: I'm gonna be looking goooooood in December. 🤣🤣🤣 Anywho, we'll see how it goes. My plan is to have 4 days of exercise, 1 long run (no lifting at all on this day ), and 2 maintenance days. With the 75 Hard challenge, I have to have activity every single day, so maintenance will be mandatory, which means I'll actually have to commit myself to taking care of myself. Win/win 🤷♀️ Today was a 2 mile easy run to kick of my half training. I am pretty sure I did it perfectly - I never felt like I was struggling (even walked the steep hills to keep my breathing level ), and i felt pretty fresh afterwards. My 2nd workout of the day was SP Vault "Trece". Alllll the burpees. 😬

Seriously guys, what the heck was up with the Shift version of "Trece"?? All together I did 96 burpees! Who does that?! Never underestimate a Shift workout. Never. I also think I had a serious case of the Mondays because I felt like I was running on empty. But I did it! It was a mental battle the entire time. I wanted to quit so many times, but I just kept picturing all my friends from my CrossFit box screaming in my face and telling me that I could do it! And it actually really helped. For me, #controlyourfitness means getting over my own sh*t. Putting down the excuses. And making myself a priority. It's easy to give, give, give all day and ignore your own needs. To the kids. To your partner. To your friends. To work. To your family. To the kids some more...😂. You forget to eat. There's no time to shower. Potty breaks have spectators. Your coffee is cold. Fitness is what I give to ME. But to get it, I have to MAKE more hours in my day. I have to adapt to a new baby's ever changing nap schedule. I have to engage the older kids to work with me. Or at least near me. I have to do it when I'm tired. When the baby didn't sleep. When the laundry piles up. It's more work added to a full load. But the pay off is worth it. I want my boys to see and know strong women. I want my daughter to know she is one. I want to live every day being active and adventuring with these tiny humans I created. Feeling a bit better so went for today's vault workout. This workout was brutal. It was brutal the first time and still was rough the second time. Somehow I managed a #SPvaultPR even though I totally didn't think I would. I wanted to quit after round two (which was this video's round ). But I kept myself going and super proud of myself for not only being faster by over a minute but also using heavier weights for the goblet squats! 🙌💪 This programming that @fearlessmiranda and @009julian have created truly works, even when you aren't trying that hard to beat your time. I didn't finish the workout today. I went for a 40 min walk with Lucian, then tried to get today's Vault workout in. But after almost 3 rounds (8 min 😵 ) he wasn't content watching me anymore. Later, I went on another walk around the property with him on my back. Overall, I got 13,000 steps. I'm okay with that. 9/28/20 Vault TRECE . At 16 weeks pregnant, I finally felt not crappy enough to get a metcon in. I think the last metcon I did was OCHO. I’ve done some Power and Oly since but man, my activity really has gone down the drain. After struggling with a resurgence of morning sickness and then some nasty acid issues, I think things are starting to normalize again…wishful thinking maybe? Well, I was able to get a very scaled workout in and cook a healthy dinner tonight, so I’ll take it. I also realized that today is 6 months to the day that my covid symptoms started. It’s a bit surreal to think that 6 months have gone by. It equally feels like yesterday and a million years ago, all at once. I ended up missing trece, catorce and quince bc of covid for the last vault, so I gotta get these 3 in to get my t-shirt!! I ordered a custom cake, for myself, last week. . Nothing beats having the perfect snap fall into your lap to talk about cakes. . Yes, I'm feeling it. . Some days I can't believe I built this body with my own hard work, and grit. . Doesn't mean I'm done working. . But back to cakes. I was talking with a friend, who also happens to be an amazing caterer. The cake for my upcoming birthday started as us just joking around on messenger. . The more we talked, the more this cake, the idea, became something we BOTH wanted. . It isn't gonna be big, or fancy. I'll save that for the big 4-0 that's coming up. . It'll be small. And fun. Fill my house with laughter, and happiness. . [No, it isn't a cake of ME lol] . In the year that's gone to heck in a handbasket, my family and I could certainly use some happy, a few laughs, and an "OMG, did mom really get herself a cake?" . Most of all, I can't wait to see my kid's face when it gets here.

I’m not a morning person. Something I’ve told myself everyday for as long as I can remember. I’m not even kidding. Even if I get up early, I’m not physically awake until 9 am, sometimes later. I’ve always wanted to wake up early, be super chipper, workout and do all the things but could never get my ish together in the morning. Then I had Matthew and getting up early wasn’t a question anymore. But I found myself using him as my alarm clock, waking up and being exhausted, still!! The past few weeks (not every day because I’m a work in progress ) I have been waking up BEFORE Matthew wakes up and boy has it really changed the game for me. My morning routine is forever changed. I go downstairs, have some “quiet” time to myself, read and enjoy a cup of coffee without it being spilled by a swift kick and check some of my other morning self care items off the list. I’ve found by doing this, I’m a better mom when he wakes up and honestly feel like a morning person. This past week, I’ve even gotten my workout in before starting my work day and I’ve noticed my whole demeanor and mood for the day is completely different. Stuck in a rut or need a change? I was feeling super stressed. How was I going to get my workout in, bill my hours, get normal household chores done, run a business and be a good mom and wife. It felt like I was always coming up short day to day in one or more areas. Moral of the story - change your morning, change your life, seriously. The miracle morning is legit - order the book or just get up early and make a shift in your day. Post MORNING workout flex with my man “showing his muscles.”

Really putting the eat in the EatLiftRunYoga lately... . Lookin' like a drumstick waiting to get breaded, and fried up. . Feeling like I'm finally ready to take on the world. . World of online coaching that is. . Yep. I'm officially all set up to do online personal training. Only 5 years late, but I suppose it's better late than never, right? . Right after having my son, I was gonna make the shift. Keep my my momentum going that I'd built in the years before. . But someone I followed at the time had posted asking if the internet were to die the next day, would you still have a job (a jab at online trainers ). . That stuck with me. I let it hold me back. . Earlier this year, before everything went to hell in a handbasket... I had begun working out details of expanding my training business. . Some classes going again. More personal training clients. Get Fit Fridays for Mental Health up and running. And I knew the online world was where I needed to look to accomplish that. . I was already doing "local remote" training. Setting up clients with 4-12wk plans for them to do at home, or the gym, and check in with me regularly. . Then everything went bonkers and I had to pause. Again. . Then I got FF4MH up and going. After 3 rounds, and working with participants on cues, modifications, etc, I felt ready to take the leap. . I created Bonifica Fitness. . I'm ready. It's my time. . To celebrate, and to kick off everything, I'm launching Habit 100. . Online program for the last 100 days of the year. 60 workouts. 15 minutes each (modifiable if you have more time! ), 4 times a week. . Created with the working/remote teaching/busy people in mind. Oh, how I adore when summer just can't stay away! . If you've been here awhile, you [pretty much] know my "story". . For those new here? . Hi. Nice to meet you. . I came into fitness via the domestic violence way. I was in an incredibly abusive relationship, dealing with long term mental health struggles on the down-low... and working out became my outlet. . I dove into powerlifting. The deadlift being the first lift to show me how strong I really am - inside and out. . Movement, exercise, made my chronic pain manageable. . I don't have some wild transformation story. No weight loss thing. I was just a run-of-the-mill person walking into the gym, working out. . I started training people, mostly women & seniors, because I watched as trainers short changed both. . Light weights, lots of cardio, and weight loss the focus for women. . Minimal movement for seniors. . Seniors are capable. Very capable. In almost 10 years of working with the population, my oldest client being 87 - I can definitely attest to that. . And so aren't women. Women can lift, and lift big. Not every woman wants to lose weight either. . That was the most frustrating for me. The implication that women always wanted to, and must shrink their bodies. . You're worth isn't the size or shape of your body. The fitness industry will never accept or recognize that, because it is so intertwined with the diet industry. . And both of those industries only want our money, they don't care how shitty they make you, or I feel. . I ate the parts of me that said I was weak. I was weak because I was in pain all the time. I was weak because my mental health wasn't well. I was weak because I couldn't make a baby. I was weak because... . I'm not weak. I am strong. . As are you. . It may take you a little time to realize that. Healing, growing, self-revelation, etc - it's a journey. . A wild one. . But it is so worth it.
