Who says your soul mate has to have two legs? Feeling no shame here, I’m proud to admit that this 80lb furry ball of floof is my favorite person to be around. Well not really a person, but you know what I mean! Scout is my heart dog. What is a heart dog? A heart dog can be compared to a human soulmate – that one person that you’ve found whom you want to spend the rest of your life with creating memories. A heart dog is similar. A heart dog is that once in a lifetime dog, one who comes into your life and changes everything for the better. A heart dog is someone who makes you a better person because they inspire you. Someone you carry with you forever. It’s that dog who you could probably never compare another dog to. I’ve been blessed with many four legged family members during my journey here on earth and I can absolutely say that Scout is my canine soulmate. I feel so blessed to have him in my world. ( as does his human daddy...my two legged soulmate! ) Have you ever had an animal who was your soulmate? And once you have, is it easy to find that again? I had this very conversation with @andrew__muse in Pacific city last week about his heart dog, Booter who tragically passed too soon. I appreciated his vulnerability and willingness to share his experience loosing his heart dog and hearing about the growing bond he and @kickerdogmuse have developed over time. • • • 📸 @andrew__muse

“The most beautiful things are not associated with money; they are memories and moments. If you don't celebrate those, they can pass you by.” 🐕🐕🐕 Knowing their lives are short I intend to spend as much time as I can making his time the happiest of times. Thank you to my sweet girl Whimsy & the ever so serious, old soul, adventure pup @kickerdogmuse for making this beach weekend that much more memorable! Where is your pups happy place? #travelwithscout
Oral hygiene has never tasted so good! #sponsored We’ve been using DentaLife ActivFresh Dog Chews for almost 3 months and WOW these have really made a difference in Scout’s breath, as well creating a daily oral care routine. I can’t stress enough how the DentaLife chews stand out over other brands. With ingredients like honey and natural spirulina, these chews fight bad breath at the source and support a healthy mouth. On top of this, the thing that won me over is the fact that these chews are soft, so they’re easier for Scout to chew, which means I don’t have to worry about him chipping another tooth ~phew~ If you’ve been looking for dental chews to freshen up your dog’s breath or need an alternative to brushing your dog’s teeth, then I highly recommend DentaLife ActivFresh dog chews. After a few chews, you’ll be begging you dog for kisses because his breath will be that kissable! #DentaLifeDailyDifference #DentaLifePartner
Scout here reminding you that “The ruff times won’t last forever”. Until then, who wants a virtual hug?! 🤗 ••• Being back on the coast has me reminiscing about all the beach hugs this guy has given! Have you had #scouthugs yet?
When Mom yells “Cookie”! What’s your dogs favorite word? #moveouttheway

Before you get a dog, you can’t quite imagine what living with one might be like; afterwards, you can’t imagine living any other way. #amiright ? 💜
He’s one in a melon! Feeling melon-choly this Monday? Hope this cheers you up! #nationalwatermelonday #willposefortreats #bestdogever #sopunny #melonhead • • • • Who doesn't love a slice of #🍉 when the heat hits? But, is it safe for your pup? The answer is yes, with a couple of precautions. Seeds could cause an intestinal blockage, so make sure you remove them. It’s also probably not a good idea to allow a dog to chew on the rind, because it can cause gastrointestinal upset. Always consult your vet, I'm not an expert! ( AKC.com )
If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours. You may not change the world, but it could change the world for that one person. Love, Scout 💜 #changingtheworldonesmileatatime

What brings you JOY? 😁 That happy, exuberant emotion that is so wonderful to feel. Whether it’s brought on by a big life event or by simply seeing your dog smile it would be nice to feel it more often, especially these days. Scout reminds me daily to look for the little things that spark joy. One of the those things that brings us both joy is being out in nature. Mother Nature has a way of recharging you and filling you up with joy and she’s always available.Ya’ll... if joy had a face I’m pretty certain this would be it!
Have you ever explored a tidepool? 🦀 ••• One of the many things I love about Oregon is that it has many wonderful tidepools to explore during the seas low tide. I’m always so fascinated by the colorful sea creatures and Scout loves all the stinky smells! #travelwithscout #havedogwilltravel
My favorite view is always YOU! ••• My husband and daughter were supposed to be away volunteering this week in Kenya, but due to the pandemic much like many of you summer plans were cancelled and we’re now spending Marks week off staying close to home and soaking in as much of the fresh coastal air as we can. Scout is quite pleased about it! What summer plans did you have to cancel? Are you still planning to travel close to home? #roomwithaview #travelwithscout #havedogwilltravel
A happy boy amongst the fields of clover! Do you ever notice how easily contented your dog is? Dogs radiate so much joy and it doesn’t take much to make them smile from ear to ear. If you’re fortunate enough to have a dog in your life, you know what a wondrous thing it is to be part of their joy. We can learn so much from them. Let’s remind ourselves, that we to must reach out more often and grab some of that happiness for ourselves. #leesonsilearnfrommydog
If you could talk to your dog for 30 seconds and it was guaranteed they would completely understand, what would you thank them for? ••• Scout, I’m thankful to have you by my side. Thankful you’re my constant companion, my best friend & my loyal guide. Thankful you’ve challenged me to step out of my comfort zone. Challenged me to be a better person. To live with an open heart. I hope you know how much sunshine you bring into this world, even on the darkest of days. Your hugs always have a way of keeping my blues at bay. So thankful for the unconditional love you give to me each and everyday. I love you. #adogslove #agirlandherdog
One is a morning pup and one is not! Can you tell? Which one are you? I’m definitely Kona before my morning cup of coffee! ••• We had such a wonderful time on the coast with our beautiful friend @kona_goldengirl and her sweet Momma! The beaches were quite empty first thing in the morning, but by noon packed with people. Happy to report that the majority were pretty good about social distancing. Once the crowds arrived that’s when we felt most comfortable hunkering down in this gorgeous rental house happily spending hours of our time just relaxing, reading, journaling, listening to music, napping, sitting on the deck and snuggling with the pups. Great company and beach time is always so good for the soul. We’ll sure miss them.
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours! 😁 This boy’s got lots of happy squinty smiles to share. What makes your dog smile? ••• I love the joy I see in Scout whenever we’re on the coast. The tail starts wagging just a bit more, the zoomies come out and he acts like a puppy again. The beach is definitely his happy place and he never stops smiling.
What is your best memory with your pet that you won’t ever forget? One thing I know is that Scouts time here is limited. A dogs only fault really. Thus, my goal is to make sure our time together is full of beautiful memories. Often, we don’t talk about ways to remember our dog until after he/she is gone. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from saying goodbye to previous pets is that making special memories with them is the best way to keep them alive and fill that hole in our hearts so I’m doing my very best to create unforgettable moments with my best friend while I still can! Need some suggestions? Below are several of the moments that I’ve found very memorable... Road trips together, the #ScoutHugs tour was the highlight for sure. Hikes and walks together in nature. Morning cuddles in bed. Reserved alone time! Take a night or two and stay with your dog in a pet friendly hotel. And my absolute favorite...becoming a therapy dog team and volunteering at retirement facilities. Not only have these times together created lasting memories for us, but for those we visit which is so gratifying and fulfilling and lastly, this Instagram page! I love that I have a place to journal and share pictures and videos of our journey in life together. #makingmemoriestogether
